Read this guide carefully for it will be the most important PL guide you have ever heard or thought of.Phantom Lancer a great hero by any means, with his ability to turn from one hero to several in a matter of seconds I am often confused why he is used so incorrectly! Many noobs will try to use PL as a fast attacking mana burning maniac! This is incorrect! let me say again this is incorrect!


When using PL it is necessary to understand that he doesn't need much damage or attack speed because he has 10 of him attacking one hero. This is the same as when you have 4 Meepo's attacking one hero, understand? You get the same results! So here we go this is the secret to PL it is quite easy are you listening? It is to make him the strongest meat shield in the game!


How do we do this? With HEARTS, get at least 2 of these then if you must get manta style. Trust me on this one and there will be no ends to noobs crying for mercy and dropping off like flies!!!!

• PL is not 10 hero's in 1... he can only have 8 images maximum including manta blade..
  
  also thye atatck at a rate of 25% normally and 40% on manta blade.

  also there is only the equivilent of 5 hero's they will take 300% extra damage from nromal attacks and 700% from spells... its idiotic!

• Yesterday I played with the PL and was a killer but I lost the game (6.50), was a 2 vs 3 and they made backdoor anyway.
  
  My PL was mighty but I lose to make many kills for the magic they used.
  
  I bought: Buriza, 2 bashers, butterfly, powerThreads and sange y yasha.
  
  I played against the lich king, pugna and Axe. when I fight 1 vs 1 I killed them in 3 seconds but I used to die a lot because of the magic of them, also my bashers barely stuned, maybe 1 from 20 hits (too few for having 2 bashers).
  
  I made more than 950 damage with my critical and my copies made more than 400. I guess that my fault was doing the 2 bashers, I should have made avatar (for the magic) instead and maybe cuiras (ultra speed) or satanic.

• man this guide is sus...gettin a heart is kinda stupid coz by the time it u get it it wont b useful, depends who you are versing really...only useful for making ur images last longer against attacks but gettin vladmirs is a better option for such...gettin manta style for PL is a definte YES...to those that are thinking...why vladmirs and manta when they stack...surprisingly they dont...vladmirs gives a lifesteal AURA while manta give a feedback ORB...thus allowing both effects to stack...
  
  to recap...items for PL (not in specific order): Vladmirs,Manta, travels or treads (depends if u really want more attack spped of movement speed), buriza (u plus ur images will spam it...i swear), butterfly (pretty compulsary for most agil heroes any way), last item is really up to you...it can change for what heroes you are versing as i said earlier when it came to getting heart...so yeh

  depending on your oponents, if they have a lot of early game pushers or if they are very agressive rush for a diffusal, boots of travel, if you used all ur diffusals get a manta, if not get an eaglehorn, then butterfly, then manta, and then vlads, you should be set by now if not, i go rapier depending on how bad you are doing, i usually dont die with pl so i have no worries about getting rapiers.
  if the other team is not as agressive then you can rush a bfury in under 15 minutes, then farm till around 20 minutes you should have diffusal and possibly bot's by now. then you can get what i said above. pl really has to utilize his images, and you fucking noob think that pl can be strong without mana burn, your a retard, manta will give him the extra edge in raping the other team, getting rid of major disables and nukes in a matter of seconds. his mana burn is a vital team skill

• yah... i disagree also... hitting towers do not make copies.... and manta is only good in a 5v5 game.... and it's an orb effect... thus making other items unavailable... i usually go for radiance... making the radiance effect copied to the clones... + skadi for slowing purposes and with great money AC + shiva... hehe!

  Listen up u retard, PL isn't Meepo, his illusions can't be borned naturally and it must depends on the percentage of ur hits.
  And, u dun even mention about the attack speed, I strongly recommend on increasing his attack speed.
  Becoming a mana burning maniac, why not?
  It is very useful when encountering with nukers
  Try to dopplewalk and appears to backstab from behind, combine with attack speed, guarantees that your illusions will be borned to surround them, doutbless!
  
  Let me reiterate again, u are indeed a retard, a retard without experience tat trying to guide ppls in using Phantom Lancer. U are not qualified by doing so.

• I disagree with this guide, although I won't vehemently do so. A Heart of Tarrasque is not a horrible item on PL due to his abysmally low health. However, Doppelwalk provides you with an escape, so there should not be a need of it. If your team needs late game pushes, a Heart can help your PL initiate a push in a lane while your teammates focus on town defense/rosh stealing/ganking. Here's the item build I normally play with the Phantom Lancer:
  
  BoT - He has low base movespeed, and the free portal ensures that you can initiate pushes
  
  Diffusal - The purge orb effect stacks on your images, greatly helping in team fights when (with all images) you're purging over 200 mana per hit.
  
  Manta Style - A mandatory item for PL. Increased movespeed from Yasha, along with more images, ensures that you can have a couple of images before initiating a fight. You can even use Manta and Doppelwalk to ensure an escape from a gank, if need be.
  
  With these core items, the following items can be built, depending on the circumstances:
  
  HoT - for reasons previously stated
  
  Assault Cuirass - Fuck your images. They're going to die regardless. That's their job: keep your enemies wasting efforts to remove your images while you spam them. The increased attack speed creates more images over a shorter duration of time, and the armor helps your team in team fights, as well as ensuring the PL with a little survivability.
  
  Gem of True Sight - If you're dying while playing as the Phantom Lancer, you're doing it wrong. The Truesight Aura stacks, easily countering invis heroes and those pesky heroes that Lothar as soon as they can.

• Regarding my previous post, here is the justification for NOT getting certain items that many get on PL.
  
  Treads: Although you can switch them to STR treads, the treads are the upgraded boots with the lowest movespeed increase. Because of this and the teleport, BoT are much better for PL. If your team is doing miserably and you're still sitting on your Boots of Speed, then Treads may be necessary, but they're never optimal.
  
  Butterfly: The evasion doesn't stack with PL's ultimate, you can get a second Yasha or Manta for cheaper if you REALLY want the increased attack speed. However, PL gains 2.8 AGI per level, which is a great AGI growth, and by mid-late game (where PL shines), you'll be attacking quickly enough to generate your images, making this a very expensive and unwise option.
  
  Vanguard: You're not Magina. Seriously. Cut that shit out.
  
  Battlefury: Images do not benefit from the damage and the cleave. Complete waste of money on PL. Leave the cleaving to lolwut heroes like Kunkka.
  
  Vlad's: I usually get a Hood of Defiance if the need presents itself, and let Faceless Void, etc. worry about lifesteal. The actual Phantom Lancer isn't hitting the enemy that often, his images are, meaning that Vlad's can help situationally, but PL never benefits well from lifesteal auras since his opening move should be to generate images, thereby automatically reducing the number of attacks he's going to be doing.
